BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT SPECIALIST
SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY

WE ARE:
St. Catherine?s Association is a non-profit organisation and
registered charity funded by the HSE that provides care to individuals
with intellectual and other disabilities. We provide Residential
Living for children and adults, Respite and Alternative Short Break
Options for children, Day Service for adults, Nursing, Positive
Behaviour Support, and access to clinical supports through referral to
Progressing Disability Services, and other related supports.
JOB ROLE:
* Responsible for the assessment and development of support
programmes for intervention for children and young adults who have
intellectual disabilities and display challenging behaviours.
* You will use a person centred approach.
* You will keep up to date with the relevant changes and best
practice in the field of intellectual disability, driving and
participating in evidence based practise.
* Provide training in a range of areas and approaches that may be
required by the individual?s support plan.
* provide on-the-ground support for frontline managers, staff teams
and families in translating training into action.
* Attend and participate in regular team and other meetings, both
internal and external.
* Engage effectively with outside agencies and advocate for the
children and young people attending the service
ESSENTIAL:
* BCBA certification or equivalent.
* A Master?s Degree in Psychology, Education or equivalent.
* A minimum of two years experience in a full-time PBS Specialist
role within a disability organisation providing PBS support services
to Children/Adults.
* Membership of a professional body (BCBA or equivalent).
* Extensive clinical experience working autonomously in carrying out
Comprehensive Behavioural Assessments and the development and
subsequent implementation of Multi-element Behaviour Support Plans.
* Experience designing and delivering training packages to staff and
families (internal & external).
* Understanding of National Strategy surrounding Progressing
Disability Services.
* Experience working as part of an inter-disciplinary team and
autonomously.
